Name: Andrew Schoppert
How long have you been a member at BBS&C? 14 months
Were you athletic or involved in sports when growing up? I have always been agile, but not overly athletic. I’m terrible at sports with a ball, but decent if there’s a board involved.
Why do you workout? I workout to look good naked and to be strong enough to continue outdoor activities like snowboarding and wake surfing.
What is your favorite lift or movement and why? My favorite lift is push press. My shoulders tend to be the strongest part of my body and I can see the progress and growth quickly which motivates me a lot.
What is your favorite workout or type of workout and why? I don’t have one favorite workout per se, but I enjoy longer workouts in the 15 to 20 minute range that involve strength and cardio.
What have you accomplished as an athlete (big or small) during your time at BBS&C? In my year at BBS&C I have hit two PRs which were long term goals of mine (305 back squat 1 rep max and 400 deadlift 1 rep max).
What fitness goals do you have for the next year? I would love to hit 1000 total pounds between deadlift, back squat and bench press…i’m around 740ish these days.
How has your fitness influenced and/or impacted your life outside of the gym? 15 years ago I was running a mile and lifting “beach muscles” only 3 days a week. After an ACL tear 10 years ago I had to get more serious about a total body workout with an emphasis on my legs. This is the time I found CrossFit and fell in love with the group classes and community. At my old gym in Dallas I met a friend named Brittany who introduced me to my current girlfriend and BBS&C member, Jackie Brown, and ever since my life has been on an upward trajectory.
